Welcome to the Centre for Research for Health and Wellbeing

The Centre of Research for Health and Wellbeing undertakes research related to health and wellbeing including service evaluation and social issues connected to the sector. We pride ourselves on the high-quality research that we conduct whether as part of our studies or on behalf of our partners. We are proud to offer a positive and supportive learning experience.

Our innovative approach to supporting and improving the health and wellbeing of communities draws on our expert academic staff resource, student research as well as our established community links.


We have a long-standing and excellent reputation among external stakeholders and collaborative partners for our high-quality and industry-relevant teaching and research.

Research and engagement are a key area of our work and we also offer postgraduate research opportunities to students.

If you are interested in developing your research skills and working with communities to make a difference, then the Centre for Research for Health and Wellbeing may be able to offer you a place on one of its programmes. We offer postgraduate programmes such as:

We are the host organisation for the National Forum for Health and Wellbeing which is a collaboration between the university and a number of regional health trusts, councils and voluntary bodies to support quality research for the health and Wellbeing of local communities.

The Centre for Research for Health & Wellbeing undertakes high quality research which relates to professional agendas and social issues connected to the health and Wellbeing of groups and individuals. Based in Bolton One, a unique tri-partner building the university shares with the Royal Bolton NHS Trust and Bolton Council, the Centre for Research for Health and Wellbeing is based at the heart of its research sphere.
