Mentored with NewLove

Mentored with Newlove is an exciting new initiative Bolton University have introduced this academic year (2022-2023) in partnership with Bolton Muslim Girls’ School, part of the Prosper Multi Academy Trust.

This scheme is an opportunity for students in years 10 to be mentored and inspired by Baroness Newlove to achieve their highest aspirations. Baroness Helen Newlove is a member of the House of Lords and a former victims commissioner to the UK Government. She also holds the appointment of the Pro-Vice-Chancellor at the ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø and is passionate about helping people from a wide range of communities.

The Mentored with Newlove scheme will showcase how mentoring, networking and enhancing key professional skills can open up new and different career pathways for students. Throughout the academic year, Bolton Muslim Girls’ School will facilitate the Mentored with Newlove scheme by reporting on the performance trajectory of those being mentored and the impact of the scheme on their academic as well as their professional performance.

Interested students will be invited to complete an application in the form of a personal statement, outlining how they feel they would benefit from the Mentored with Newlove scheme. Six students will be selected on the basis of their application. Supported by the Office of the Provost at the ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø and the administration team for this scheme, the six successful students will be mentored throughout the academic year by Baroness Newlove. This may involve some travel to London, a tour of the House of Lords, as well as the opportunity to attend a range of business meetings, and events where they will be able to create networking opportunities.

If any school is interested in joining this scheme or for press enquiries please email Janet Burke at mentored@bolton.ac.uk
