Naval Nexus Event

Celebrate the coming together of two nations.

The ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø is delighted to invite you to a special event celebrating community cohesion and the return of HMS Ambuscade to the UK.

We are honoured to welcome both His Excellency Muhammad Tariq Wazir - Consul General of Pakistan, Manchester and Dr. Muhammad Anwar, Trustee and former Commander of the Naval Squadron PN, as our keynote speakers.

Dr. Anwar was the first captain to bring HMS Ambuscade to the UK, making this event particularly meaningful. Celebrate History: Be part of a historic moment as we commemorate HMS Ambuscade’s incredible journey.

  • Event address: HE. Muhammad Tariq Wazir – Consul General of Pakistan to talk about the importance of friendship between Pakistan and the United Kingdom and provide some data on the amount of bilateral trade between the two nations.
  • Distinguished Keynote: Hear from Dr. Muhammad Anwar, a naval leader with first-hand experience of the ship’s legacy.
  • Speakers include: Professor Paul Hollins, Professor of Cultural Research Development, ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø, Dr Mark Brocklehurst, ex Royal Navy and Managing Director, Sharples Group & Mr Stewart Jones
  • Maritime Insights: Learn about the fascinating story of HMS Ambuscade and its connection to British and international naval heritage.

Professor of Cultural Research at the UoB Previously served in the Royal Navy on HMS Hermes, the Falkland Task Force flagship, and HMS Ariadne a small Leander class Frigate. He served in the Falklands, South Georgia, South Thule, and in other parts of the word. Paul is providing support to the project to bring home HMS Ambuscade.
Dr Mark Brocklehurst
For Mark, work & play started at 16 with a 12-year span in the Royal Navy which gave him most of the life skills that he now uses in his career. Mark started in the office equipment sector at Sharples Group eventually leading to an MBO with friends until the company sold in 2023 and retirement commenced.
Mr Stewart Jones
Stewart will be speaking about how he has coordinated sea and Air Cadets in Crewe, the town affiliated with both HMS Ambuscade ships. This has led to a national effort across the armed forces cadet groups being worked on.
