Rachel McHaffie

Photography Lecturer

Rachel joined the team at the ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø as a lecturer in photography in September 2018. She has been a freelance photographer since 1994 and is one of the very few photographers whose professional career has been devoted to the documentation of the dance revolution.

Rachel’s career in dance music photography began at the now infamous Hacienda nightclub where she was staff photographer in the mid-1990’s.

Following the Hacienda, Rachel went on to work for many magazines including DJ and Ministry. Having documented some of the most significant parties, people, music and memories in a decade of such music genre, she has explored and captured the global club landscape from Vegas.

Rachel is now expanding her research in this area to encompass a PhD around Memory and Mass culture.

Rachel also holds an MA and BA in Photography from Manchester Metropolitan University and has worked as a lecturer in higher education since 2006.
