Debra Charnock

Senior Lecturer in Dental Technology

Currently holds the position of Programme Lead for the department of Dental Sciences within the ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø.

Previously worked at Manchester Metropolitan University as Senior Lecturer in the Centre of Dental Technologies, providing student supervision for dissertations for BSc (Hons) and MSc programmes. This included dental related and interdisciplinary supervision, collaborating with the Engineering Department.

Research theme involvements included diabetes and the impact on mobility, diabetes and implant placement, the impact of implant placement on adolescent maxillofacial patients, virtual articulation design using solid works CAD software.

BSc (Hons) qualification in Centre of Dental Technologies and PGCAP teaching qualification, leading to Fellow of Higher Education status, were obtained at Manchester Metropolitan University.

Previously qualified as a registered dental technician (RDT) and worked alongside clinicians in Harley Street, London, gaining invaluable industrial and communication skills.

Debra owned her own laboratory, employing numerous staff, from the age of 23. This has enabled a network of Dental Care Professionals to be established, in addition to industrial contacts from manufacturing and research.

Numerous international courses have been attended, involving a range of topics which includes, but not limited to, ceramics, aesthetic dentistry, maxillofacial, implants, biomaterials and CADCAM.

A member of the British Academy of Aesthetic Dentistry (BAAD) British Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry (BACD).

Current PhD research interests involve dental implants making use of 3D printed scaffold technology, scanning techniques and novel materials for mechanical and biological performance.
