Study with an Off-Campus Partner
Nine out of ten people in the world currently breathe polluted air and almost 80% of the world’s plastic ends up in landfill or the natural environment. It’s a global tragedy that we are not looking after our planet. It is something that you cannot escape, and action is long overdue.
The ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø is proud to be working towards solutions for a better life. A sustainability committee was launched during 2019 and the University is constantly evolving its practices for the good of the students, staff and community. Together, with small changes we can make a large enough impact to change the future of sustainability and respond to and manage climate change.
The Environmental Sustainability Lead for the University said: “As one of the largest organisations in the Greater Manchester region, the University recognises the environmental impacts from its activities, routine operations, infrastructure development and its influence over wider community regionally, nationally and globally.
The University will be using as their prime objectives and will plan and work to achieve the goals in alignment with regional and national timelines.â€
The United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals were set in 2015 as a “blueprint to achieve a better and more sustainable future for all" and these are:
PAOW stands for Pledge, Act, Observe and Win. A collaborative project initiated by the ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø and the former Bolton Students’ Union President (2021-23) to build a partnership with local communities working together towards cleaner streets.
