School of law

At the School of Law we are focused on developing students for their professional futures. We do this by giving our students:

  • Courses developed with Business and Law experts, to ensure the skills our graduates offer employers are the skills they want;
  • Academics with established profession contacts, giving access to work placements and future employment
  • Small class-sizes that ensure students are not lost in a crowd. We had the second highest student to staff ratio in the North West (Telegraph 2011)

The Legal Research Centre houses the current eclectic collection of research interests within the Law School and its research students. Our mission is to ensure that all teaching is underpinned with research bases. It is also the umbrella organisation which governs the Centre for Dispute Resolution. The Centre for Dispute Resolution provides an interface for conferences, publications and ADR training.

Testimonials

Jennifer Nwajiobi

LLB (Hons) Law | 2018

"I chose to study Law at the ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø because my father attended the institution, and I knew that I would be given time and assistance by the tutors at far greater levels than that at other places. The course has helped me become more confident, and the teaching and learning methods are excellent."

Maryam Ishaq

LLB Law | 2016

"I chose to study law at the ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø because the class sizes are smaller, and the lecturers are extremely helpful, and make the effort to learn who we are. I feel very comfortable asking questions in class."

Liam Ainscough

LLB (Hons) Law | 2015

"In 2017, I was awarded an internship at Keoghs; this experience gave me an insight into what law firms expect from solicitors, support staff, and the systems they use. The internship schedule was diverse thus allowing myself to understand how departments and job roles differentiate while understanding what they entail. The module Professionals in Practice was beneficial to my development and the skills gained and techniques learned can be extrapolated and universally applied."

Rachel Mitchell-Denson

Corporate Social Responsibility Manager, Keoghs |

"Over the past couple of years, we have been developing our relationship with the ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø with a view to encouraging direct recruitment opportunities with their students, building positive brand awareness whilst positively impacting the local community.

Liam and Masenge, were amazing from day one. Smartly presented, punctual, ready to get stuck in and learn and help in any way they could. They found the process very enlightening from an internal working function point of view and found the whole process a valuable learning experience. Both Liam and Masenge went on to obtain part-time evening roles within the business. One they have completed their degrees they will be in an envious position of having Keoghs on their CV and will be primed and ready to apply for junior legal roles within Keoghs."
